Decent Cheap Case

I needed a case for a 5-string viola that would mostly stay around the house. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money. I have a Musafia violin case, so I know what a really good case is like and how much a really good one costs. This Protec case is very basic, but for the price, it is an excellent buy. Make no mistake-it is not a high-quality case. It doesn't close with any kind of secure eeling save for the velcro latch (the side zippers effectively close the case). Moreover, if you were going to be banging this case around inthe outside world, I'm guessing it wouldn't stand any test of time. But with that said, it offers adequate protection to an instrument under reasonably careful use, and given the low cost and incredible lightness, I wouldn't hesitate to use it for student instruments or even for better ones if the owner is careful. It's a good buy, but of course, at 5% or 10% of the cost of a good case, you can't expect the same thing.
